After tomorrow’s fabulous event at Blankspace details here http://stirredpoetry.wordpress.com/2012/12/10/aurelia-lassaques-solstice-and-other-poems/ and event here https://www.facebook.com/events/202035773265083/?fref=ts . Unless I get drafted into something last minute in Norwich I am done performing for another year until January.
I have at least one gig booked each month until April next year (aside from the ones I run: Stirred and Shaken) in Manchester and several other places. I have also decided to take part in http://www.writingourwayhome.com/p/river-jan-12.html I did a small stone earlier this year http://stirredpoetry.wordpress.com/2012/11/01/small-stone-for-mindful-writing-day/ and while I am not someone who currently meditates or practises buddhism I can see the value as a writer of taking stock and really experiencing the world around us. It produces better writing and can also help create an inner calm. As usual with these kind of writing things I will probably not manage all the days of January but I will give it a go.
On Monday the 6th January Shaken Stories and Verse Returns, its purely open mic, five minutes each short stories and poetry with a vague tv/sci fi/film theme in honour of the venue Fab Cafe: https://www.facebook.com/events/316920178422949/. Philip Craggs will be reading an excerpt from this collection: http://obversebooks.co.uk/product/2-3-the-casebook-of-the-manleigh-halt-irregulars/
We have decided to not do Stirred in January (Monday the 7th) as Becca Audra Smith has a big reading with Carol Ann Duffy at the Royal Exchange (if anyone has a spare ticket let me know)
On the 15th January is the Free Frame of Reference event organised by John G Hall this looks to be very exciting I will be reading and many other of Manchester’s great and not so good: https://www.facebook.com/events/119533068210238/
On the 23rd January is Penning Perfumes which is a unique event where poets (including myself) share poetry inspired by an anonymous perfume sent in the post: http://penningperfumes.tumblr.com/
On the 30th I have a slot at Lead Poets in Chorlton its lovely to do an event there for a change and this is a lovely intimate reading with high quality guests booked months in advance, get there early! https://www.facebook.com/events/528882803789379/?fref=ts
