Napowrimo Non Prompt Poem

I have vivid dreams and today’s poem was lifted pretty much entirely from last night’s REM session.

Last night I dreamed she broke in

she’d know how to elbow a window

dreams erase the need for ladders

she took the notebooks from my shelves

although we haven’t spoken in years

I conjured her mocking tones wholesale

vitriol distorted by distance and sleep

She tore off strips of my scrawl vicious

rolling them up with great ceremony

in my nocturnal subconscious

she did what she always did on waking

while laughing she ate my words
