Today’s Non Prompt Poem

I realised the weather was wild

when a woman left the bus

with a striped jacket on her head

while umbrellas were blown arachnid

a man dropped a clear blue plastic folder

creased letters from the DWP

and a handful of dark business cards

I cut through the department store

someone made off with a handbag

security scurrying, scattering mannequins

think of the sorry contents of my own

antacid tablets, a purse of small change

sachets of green tea, parcels of good intentions

today I was wracked by ghosts

who spoke in strange tongues
